Silent Majority No More

Taxpayer Protest March on Washington, DC
September 12, 2009

The Port Huron Tea Party joined up with a seemingly endless sea of men, women and children from every age, background, race and political affiliation in Washington, D.C. September 12, 2009.

The National Park Service estimated 1.2 million in attendance. Other estimates put the crowd as high as 2 million. The crowd was united in its concern that government growth and spending are out of control and its rejection of government health care. A host of speakers and entertainers addressed the crowds throughout the afternoon.

Unbelievably, the White House claimed on Friday, September 11, that it was unaware of the protest slated on the national mall for the following day. It is disappointing that the administration would make a statement so utterly and provably untrue. Like much of the media, it appears that the administration hopes to demoralize protestors and marginalize the impact of such a massive protest by treating it as insignificant. Such is a disrespectful slap in the face to the American people.

Insofar as most of the mainstream media goes, it has unapologetically abandoned all but the thinnest guise of objectivity when it comes to promoting this president and his plans. Failing to report information or events likely to affect public understanding and perception for the sake of protecting an agenda is deceitful. It is wrong.

As the media most certainly has enjoyed the victories it has helped this administration achieve, so shall it bear responsibility when time reveals the consequences of it having abdicated its proper role as public guardian in favor of political activism.

It is amazing how FoxNews has been derided by its competitors for refusing to accept Obama's agenda without scrutiny. The American public has voted with their remotes, however, and demonstrated that they appreciate the contrasting views and information Fox provides.

Is Fox overwhelmingly right-thinking compared to the bulk of its competitors being overwhelmingly left-thinking? Perhaps, but with the majority in lockstep, what's the complaint? Obviously, they resent Fox because its not only brings to attention important information they fail to report but, in doing so, makes plain their bias.

"Many came on their own and were not part of an organization or group. But the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise, with throngs of people streaming from the White House to Capitol Hill for more than three hours."

Ongoing Request for Prayer
Pray that our public servants will hear and heed the voices of the silent majority ...voices new to marches and protests ...voices of citizens compelled out of their comfort zone by the realization that, left unchecked, our nation is on a course to economic destruction and loss of the freedoms on which it was founded.
